About the Founder- Edith
I have spent a lot of time on the streets going up to the people I feel drawn to to share encouragement with them. Within the inner cities there tends to be a lot of hopelessness; most feel they have no real chance to alter their circumstances due to little or no resources and no one to help them. It was as I was driving through the inner city of Baltimore, Maryland that I suddenly saw how to repurpose a huge building that was no longer being used into a Kingdom Community Center. I simply held onto the idea since I had no idea of how to implement the idea.
I had never really considered traveling to the Continent of Africa until I found myself visiting a friend who was taking his first group of people to Malawi. After listening to the description of the trip and meeting the other people who were going, I felt I should be a part of it. While we were there we were allowed to go to the Refugee Camp and that impacted me deeply. When we were given the chance to go shopping I pressed for us to go back to the Refugee Camp because I felt we could bring them hope. I have traveled to Malawi four times now and my heart is deeply impacted by the Joy people have despite their circumstances. I have come to believe that people should not be relegated to just trying to survive because of where they were born whether it be the inner city or a war-torn country. We need to consider how we can best use each person’s talents and abilities to make all of our lives better. Together we can overcome while separated we will struggle.
